I must whine (what is the point of a journal if one cannot whine?)--whoever scheduled the fencing tournaments this year must have had it out for me. All of them are right after major (drinking) holidays. After New Year's, I must recover in time for Bladerunner, which is a medium-sized tournament. Luckily, Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas isn't until a week after Bladerunner (but still, it's in Vegas--I wonder how many of us will actually make it to the competition). The national qualifying tournament is on April 11, which falls on a good day; however, I wanted to go to New Orleans with the speech team I'm coaching for their national tournament that week.

Of course, nationals for fencing are during 4th of July this year. ACK!
